"Mera Saaya" (also known as "Light of the Jungle") is a 1972 Hindi-language Bollywood film directed by Mohammad Reza Ashtiani. It stars Ashok Kumar, Mumtaz and Sabita Devi. This movie was released in 1972 and was produced by Sharada Reddy. The film was the most successful of the post-liberation era in terms of box office collection. It has been dubbed into Telugu and Tamil, which were also successful at the Box Office. The story revolves around two lovers: Tapas and Nandini (Mumtaz and Ashok Kumar), who are separated after a robbery carried out by bandits with whom they came to town to trade. While Tapas goes in search of Nandini, the bandits return and kidnap her. Tapas is joined on his quest by a group of people including a boy who has seen Nandini with the leader of the bandits (Shivraj). The boy is named Chotu. Ashtiani makes use of some songs from his earlier movie "Naya Nasha".
